(AFTERMOVIE – Heavy Music Presentation Day 04.10.2025)
The idea came from numbers – Estonia has roughly 30 albums released each year that fall under “Heavy Music” category. Half of these releases never get any exposure other than a lonely social media post saying “new album out now!”, because the bands don’t have the time, knowledge or resources to spend on a release plan or a campaign. And mainstream media just doesn’t care.
Heavy Music Presentation Day aims to give these bands the opportunity to present their new releases and the heavy music audience the opportunity to discover new music firsthand in a very convenient way.
This is currently an annual event (taking place at the first weekend of October) where Heavy Music Estonia aims to connect local bands with new local audience in a one-day festival with up to 12 bands getting 20 minutes of stage time each, to present their new album/EP.
How they use this time, is up to them – they can play a regular liveshow, showcase their new music videos, give an interview about the making of the album or something else.
Heavy Music Estonia provides a venue, backline, light and sound engineer and promotion and exposure for the event.
For each event there is an open call for all artists in the broad heavy music category. The band can be 30 years old or 3 weeks old – the only requirement is that, if they play in october 2026, they have an album/ep released in the year 2026 (there are some exceptions, but we are not willing to go back more than 12 months from the event date). We put on the stage as many bands as we can physically fit, based on how well they meet the requirements.

– Affordable ticket (usually 15.- euros at door, cheaper at presale)
– No age limit.
– Free entry under the age of 16.
– A chance to discover new bands that you might not stumble upon otherwise.
– A chance to see the bands that you never thought you would be interested in.
– A chance to see your favorite band in a completely new setting on stage – giving an interview or presenting their new music video or doing a rare acoustic set..
– A chance to take your kids to a family friendly metal event in the center of the city for a reasonable price!
In Addition to all of the above,
Heavy Music Estonia is working with our culture capital to bring foreign music industry professionals to these events to get to know the Estonian talent and current state of our heavy music. We have had delegates from magazines (Metal Hammer UK, RockHard Magazine), agencies (Greybeard agency, Death Agency) and promoters (Sonic Rites, Mystic Festival, Blowup Festival) visiting, creating this also into a useful networking opportunity.
AND we have always been open to local industry companies to set up tables introducing their products and services at this event.
After 5 presentation days, we see how this has become an important event that brings together bands, music fans and the industry to network, discover new music and have a great time! Especially important as a gateway for young people interested in Heavy Music, to get their first proper concert experience in a safe environment.
