The idea came from numbers – Estonia has roughly 30 albums released each year that fall under “Heavy Music” category. Half of these releases never get any exposure other than a lonely social media post saying “new album out now!”, because the bands don’t have the time, knowledge or resources to spend on a release plan or a campaign. And mainstream media just doesn’t care.
Heavy Music Release Day aims to give these bands the opportunity to present their new releases and the heavy music audience the opportunity to discover new music in a most convenient way.
This is a bi-annual event (autumn and spring) where Heavy Music Estonia aims to connect local bands with new local audience in a one-day festival where we give up to 12 bands the chance to present their new album/EP within 20 minutes of stage time. How they use this time, is up to them – they can play a regular liveshow, showcase their new music videos, give an interview about the making of the album or something else.
Heavy Music Estonia provides a venue, backline, light and sound engineer and promotion and exposure for the event.
For each event there is an open call for all artists in the broad heavy music category. The band can be 30 years old or 3 weeks old – the only requirement is that, if they play in october 2025, they have an album/ep released in the year 2025 (there are some exceptions, but we are not willing to go back more than 12 months from the event date).

We keep the ticket price as low as we can (usually 10.-euros pre-sale)

A chance to discover new bands that you might not stumble upon otherwise.
A chance to see the bands that you never thought you would be interested in.
A chance to see your favorite band in a completely new setting on stage – giving an interview or presenting their new music video or doing a rare acoustic set..
A chance to take your kids to a family friendly metal event in the center of the city for a reasonable price!
In Addition to all of the above,
Heavy Music Estonia is working with our culture capital to bring foreign music industry professionals to these events to get to know the Estonian talent and current state of our heavy music. We have had delegates from magazines (Metal Hammer UK), agencies (Greybeard agency, Death Agency) and promoters (Elektrik Products, LRMA) visiting, creating this also into a useful networking opportunity.
AND we have always been open to local industry companies to set up tables introducing their products and services at this event.
